Eom Eye Test has certain procedures. The first procedure is to examine eye movement or extra ocular by the way the patient looks into any room without having to move the head. You should ask the patient about double vision. You perform a pursuit test by following a moving object that can traverse vertical and horizontal eye movements. You will also test the convergence movement to perform patient fixation for moving objects slowly and toward the point between the patient’s eyes. You should also observe the patient’s eyes while resting and see the abnormalities in the eye. Perhaps the patient may experience spontaneous nystagmus or a conjugate. Disconjugation is a condition when the eom eye test cannot see to the center of the same point. Double vision is called diplopia. Fast-moving eye movements for fixation between one object and another are referred to as Saccades.

You will test this by holding two objects in the distance that are in front of the patient. You will show your thumb and index finger on the other hand. Patients should see both targets for several times. The optokinetic nystagmus test is a test performed by moving the strip so that it becomes parallel to the patient’s eye. The patient will see the line in sight. Regular eye movements are called nystagmus. This happens when the phase is slow and the chase movement will see the strip. The fast phase can be repeated back to the midpoint.
Tests of vestibular-ocular reflexes can be performed in coma patients because these patients have a lethargic body. This test will be used to see the eye path and brainstem in a state intact. This is a reflex that must be done by turning the head and holding the eye from the top to the bottom. This test should not be performed for patients with head injury. Patients with cases of spinal trauma should also not do this. Patients injured with normal and complete cervical can perform this test. This reflex can be present when the eye will move to the area opposite to the head movement. Usually, this is referred to as puppet eyes. The conscious patient cannot do the puppet eye because the eye movements will follow your head movement. Patients who do not show this symptom have a brainstem that is not functioning due to fainting or coma. This is normal for fully conscious patients. Vestibular-ocular reflexes have other stronger stimuli. This is done to evaluate comatose patients. This is a movement called caloric stimulation.

You should perform the tests carefully to identify the disorders that occur in the nerves and muscles. Usually, the disorder occurs when the eye movements travel from the brain stem to the higher center. It also happens from eye to orbit. The brain stem is the part that controls the movement of the eye. This section is something that is sensitive so it can be tested to know certain disorders. Nystagmus may indicate that the center of the brain is being poisoned by certain metabolites. Impaired eye movement is not only caused by injury or trauma. This disorder can also be caused due to toxins that poison your brain. Certain drugs will produce toxins in the brain and affect all parts of your brain including perrla eyes movements. That is the procedure of the Eom Eye Test.
